Set your computer to turn off when you press the power button of CPU
Set your computer to turn off when you press the power button of CPU:
If you are new to computers and all the stuff, probably you don’t know it yet. You can change the action of what your computer would do when you press the power on/off button of your CPU (Not the restart button, but the (big) button above it). Windows XP normally offers 5 options to be done when you press the power button of CPU.
1. Do nothing (Yopu certainly don’t want to select this option, LOL)
2. Ask me what to do (with this option it presents you with 3 choices, 1. Stand By, 2. Turn Off 3. Restart)
3. Stand By
4. Hibernate
5. Shut Down
So, Now how to set your favorite action when you press the power on/off butoon of CPU? Right click on your desktop at an empty place. When a box opens click “Properties” (the last option in that menu). Then a box pops up, click on “Screen Saver” menu tab, Now click on the “Power” button at the bottom of the box under Monitor Power sub heading. Now another box pops up. Now click on “Advanced” in the tab menu. Now you have reached the final step. Under the “Power Buttons” sub heading and under “When I press the power button on my computer” select your favorite action from the drop down box. The drop down list presents the same 5 options given above. Once you selected your desired action, click “Apply” and then “OK”. That’s all, So from now on, when you click the CPU power button it will do what action you have set from that drop down box.
