Hide your Yahoo Messenger “idle” status

By default Yahoo Messenger shows your status as “idle” if you haven’t used Yahoo Messenger for a certain time when you are signed on Yahoo Messenger. You would have noticed “idle for 4 minutes”, “idle for 1 hour” like messages on the messenger next to the Yahoo Messenger id’s of your friends, at least a couple of times by now. Yahoo Messenger shows the same for your Id on your friends Messenger list if you haven’t used the messenger for a while when you are signed on.

To prevent messenger from showing how long you have been “idle” or even the word “idle” next to your Yahoo id on your buddies messengers, you can go to “Messenger” on your Yahoo menu and then select “Privacy Options” and when a box opens tick the radio button “Do not show anyone how long I have been idle” under the “Idle status” and then click “Apply” at the bottom of then box and then click “OK”. Now Yahoo will never show how long you have been “idle” or the word “idle” next to your id on your friends messenger list even though you are signed on Yahoo and haven’t used it for many hours, or days for that matter.
